Why would a urine pregnancy test positive but was not seen in the ultrasound?
Pregnancy detection kits detect the level of
the pregnancy hormone, hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) in the urine.
When a
woman gets pregnant the level of hCG rises in her urine and the pregnancy detection kit shows positive.
An ultrasound should ideally be done after
8-12 weeks of conception. If done before this, the baby may not be clearly
visible has it hasn’t developed enough.
So you may not see it during ultrasound
in the first few weeks even if the pregnancy kit showed positive results.
Whereas a pregnancy detection kit allows
you to test for pregnancy as they can be taken just a few days after missed
period at the comfort of your home.
