Things Women Absolutely Don’t Want to Hear When Pregnant

Pregnancy tests you. And this is a test that women need to take alone. As if the entire ordeal is not painful enough, women are often subjected to further verbal agony at the hands, or in this case, the mouths of people who, although mean well, were still left behind when the rest of the world moved on from being ignorant to better understandingNoit’s not the changes in pregnancy hormones thataccording to some people who think they are the second coming of Freud, “sets women off”but the pearls of folly that these people dish-out that anger expectant moms

If you know someone who is pregnant, drop everything that you are doing right now and read on to find out how you can still guarantee your invite for the baby shower by not pissing off the mom. If you are pregnant then share this article like the funny meme you saw last night that you had to show it to 12 of your friends.

Shut Up About Your Pregnancy Horror-Stories

  • “Oh my god! I had such an extreme, excruciating, painful, organ-twisting, agonizing, harrowing, distressing, terrible, unpleasant, dreadful, troublesome, difficult pregnancy but it was all worth it when I first saw my baby!!” Yeah, if you have not figured out yet, no woman wants to know how painful your pregnancy was. Other women know how it goes.

  • It might be their first time but they knew of the pain the moment their pregnancy test kit results showed positive. According to a research by Huffington Post, 82% of women do not want to know how painful other women’s pregnancies are

  • If anything, regale them with stories about the time your partner did something unexpectedly sweet, so the bar for their partners is set high.

Your Weight-Gain is for You to Know Alone

  • All women are different, agree? Then you should also agree that weight-gain during pregnancy differs from woman to woman also.

  • According to our heroes at Huffington Post, women should keep their pregnancy weight-gain to themselves and refrain from commenting on other women’s pregnancy gain.

  • Imagine ruining a perfect baby-shower party, all because you told the mom that you put on only 5 kgs during your pregnancy while the mom’s double chin alone gains 7 kgs right after doing a pregnancy test at home

“Should You Be Eating/Drinking That?”

  • Don’t we absolutely hate it when people think they can tell us what we should be/shouldn’t be eating? We have hated this since we were kids. Then what makes you think it will be alright now with pregnant women. This is a very touchy area, as the people who question get offended easily.

  • They defend themselves by saying that they have the woman’s best interests at heart but really, who better to have those best interests at heart than the woman with the accurate home pregnancy test herself.

  • Trust a pregnant woman enough to know they will never jeopardize their health or pregnancy by eating something they should not. And even if they do give in to harmless cravings, let them as they have earned it.

Leave the Expert Diagnosis to the Doc

  • Even if you have a fair idea of what a pregnant woman should normally weigh, find a way to raise the subject in a more subtle way rather than body-shaming them if you think something is wrong.

  • You are thinking that you are not that cruel but sometimes, the things we talk about pregnant women, unbeknownst to us, makes a much deeper impact on them

  • According to a study by parents.com, when a pregnant woman is asked a question about their weight, they immediately start thinking that their child might not be getting enough nutrients or maybe too much of it. Remember, subtle is the way to go to avoid pushing those panic buttons.

  • This is all in good humour. We all love expectant moms and would never do anything to cause any kind of stress to them; but think of this as a guide to prepare you to deal with pregnant women which no pregnancy blog in India will teach you.
